Topic 7 (copyright)

Wow there are some things on that test that I did not even know about. There are a lot more to the copyright laws than I even knew about. There were a couple I knew for sure but some of the answers that I thought were correct turned out to be wrong. That was a surprise to me. I am glad to be taking this class.

Topic 6 (powerpoint)

I can remember the first time I had to use power point for one of my classes. I had no idea what a power point was or even how to make one. I remember talking to my son about power points and he told me that he knows how to use and even make one. That was the day that my teenage son helped me do my homework. It is usually that other way around. I guess I am proof that we can learn from our kids just like they learn from us. Today I learned even more from a power point. I now can say that making a power point in different ways can be fun for adults and for kids. I would not mind using something like this when I start teaching. They say that Digital Immigrants need to learn to teach our students.

Topic 5 (YETC & Other Resources)

I found this web site interesting. I would like to say that I liked the NASA web link. I like the pictures that was on that web page. I would like to have the students look at these picture to show the students that space can be interesting. I just wish that the lesson plans would have had a little bit more to choose from other than that it was fun to look into. When I start to teach I would like to use some of these links to help me with the students.

(power school)

I would have to say that I have really enjoyed having this down here in Juab. I can say that this is how I can keep an eye on how my kids are doing in school. I like it also because I can see what assignments my kids have not handed to their teacher and to check their grades. I really like the idea of having this so that the parents can keep track of their students with out having to take some time off from work to go and see the teachers to see how your child is doing in school. One of the good things I also like about this feature is that you can have your childrens grades and if your children are in school or late for a class. I have my child's sent to me by email everyday of the school week.

Topic 4 Lesson plan1

I had a little bit of hard time making a lesson plan. I get alittle confused trying to figure out how to make one. This is what I did my lesson plan. It is as follows: I would like to teach the students about factors, so my lesson plan is going to be on this to the sixth graders.

I went and used the web page of UEN. I then picked the sixth grade lesson plans. In doing this I was looking for math lesson plans for the sixth grade. I clicked on the prime factorization web link. After that I went and clicked on the prime factorization-from fingerprints to factor prints link. I then went to the website factor tree and came up with a factor game. I also looked at the purple math – factoring numbers web site. I found both of lots of these web sites useful in teaching students about factoring.
I hope this gets easier.

topic 3 (web 2.0 part 1)

I have found that lots of the websites we are learning about in class are going to be helpful. One of the things that I found to be interesting was when we were talking about the smart board. I have a little bit about these but I have really never seen one. The Juab Schools do not have too many of these but I was talking to a teacher and she was telling me that they are working on getting more for the teachers. I have been in a couple of classrooms but not seen anyone use them. I have heard some things about them from my son who is in High School and he was telling me that he thinks the school needs to get more so that all of the teachers have them. He was telling me that he has really enjoyed learning from the teachers using them and this is why he thinks that all teachers should have one and learn how to use them. I would have to say that having them in the classrooms the teacher need to learn how to use them so that it would not be a waste of money. In watching about it in class I would have to say that when a teacher learns how to use it, it is going to be very helpful and can be used in many different ways. I am thinking that in the long run it is going to be worth while to have in the classrooms.

topic 2 (UEN)

I would have to say that looking up the UEN web page was helpful in helping me looking up some lesson plans. I would have to say that having a web site where you can go to get some ideas to help you with making your own lessons is going to be helpful. I have heard that coming up with lesson plans your first year teacher can take a while to make. I am going to find it helpful in making my lessons when I can use or even look at others. This site is going to be useful.

topic one (todays students)

I enjoyed watching the video. There are a few things I really thought to be interesting. One of them being that 1/2 of the students will not graduate from high school. I was thinking that was a high number of students not getting an education and graduating from high school. I would have thought it would have been lower than that. I also thought where they talked about by the year 2016 the largest country speaking English is going to be China. In watching this video I did not really think that technology was going to be used so much in the schools. I am looking forward to learning more about this.
